PORTFOLIO

...you KNOW here you want to go. You are aiming for that special school or job and you feel ready, except...

Eek.

You don't have a portfolio! You don't know what to put in it, what its supposed to look like, or what they are looking for!

How, exactly, do you go about building a good portfolio for that killer first good impression that will make whoever look at it say « this is EXACTLY the kind of artist we want! »

A FEW POINTERS

BREATHE

Relax, you know you are good. This is about SHOWING it.

PRESENTATION

You DO need to have everything in it CLEAN and proprely mounted. Remember, if you don't show respect for your own artwork, who will?

REQUIREMENTS

Once you know where you want to go, get the information of what they want to see and when as EARLY AS POSSIBLE can. Look at their website, and if you need more information, call to ask, and if you can see what was required last year.

GETTING READY

Draw!

Draw, paint, sculpt, do whatever your thing is. A LOT. The more you produce, the larger the selection for your portfolio will be.

Keep a drawing notebook. Draw in it EVERY DAY. Draw what is around you, draw what's in your head. It makes you a better artist...and is a good addition to your portfolio.
